There are few actions you can take to ensure the consistency of your characters throughout the story on Shai. Shai technology of course will help you with that, but still it is good for you to know what action you can take to make consistency even sharper. See our tips below.
1. Make sure your character has a name
When creating a character make sure you include a name. Shai usually picks that up directly from your script, but especially when you add a new character, make sure you add a name, select how you want your AI character to look like, and hit save.
2. Check character attachment in shots
In the ‘Storyboard’ view, where the shot cards are, make sure that the character is attached in the right shots, as in the example below. You can see that ‘John’ is added to the card. This is usually done automatically from Shai when your script/concept is processed, but that needs to be done manually when you add a new shot.
3. Check character spelling
Also in the ‘Storyboard’ view, make sure your character is not misspelled in the text description of the shot. This will also help with character consistency.
4. Use pre-made characters
Use a pre-made custom character from Shai’s AI characters library for better consistency. Our technology is trained on these characters and it makes it easier to replicate them into your story.
5. Be specific with custom characters
You can of course create your own AI characters. To keep them as consistent as possible, make sure you are really specific in your description. Describe them in details using the character age, gender, clothing, facial features such as glasses, beard, hair type. Pro tip: it works very well to use celebrity resemblance, for instance: a 30 years old man resembling Brad Pitt or a 50 years old woman resembling Halle Barry. This would help in keeping your character consistent.
6. Limit characters per shot
Keep 1 or 2 characters per shot maximum. AI image generators struggle still to keep consistency for more than one character in an image/video. You can always try of course, but we recommend to limit the amount of AI character in each shot.
7. Regenerate when needed
Last but not least: regenerate, regenerate, regenerate. Unfortunately, the ‘good in one go’ image creation with AI is still difficult, especially with complicated shots. So it is good to keep on regenerating an image until you get what you want and have tried all the steps above first.
